Transport operators are calling on Governor Lee Kinyanjui to recede a decision to ban matatus from the central business district.

They say kicking them out of town will worsen their financial woes, already reeling from the effects of COVID-19.

Mr David Ndegwa, a SACCO official said the current working environment was a health hazard and keeping away customers.

Governor Lee has stated that his administration will upgrade the Kwa Jack, KFA and Ziwani stages for ease of business.

Mr Ndegwa said the transport sector is among the largest county revenue contributors and thus deserves the best.

County Youth Leader Daniel Kimani called on President Uhuru Kenyatta to intervene as the Governor had already made up his mind.

“Thousands of jobs directly linked to the industry are staring at a loss,” he lamented.
