The Nakuru County Peace Building and Conflict Management Bill that was sponsored by Kabazi MCA Dr.Peter Mbae has been passed by the County Assembly of Nakuru

It provides for a structured way of bringing together both National and County Governments to handle peace and conflict prevention and management.

According to Mbae, “the law provides for the creation of the County Peace Council to be headed by the Governor and the County Commissioner and including representatives from various sectors who will establish SubCounty structures and most importantly, identify peace agents from each village who will be trained on Peace and Conflict prevention.”

The Bill as well brings on board all non state actors on peace issues in the County who will form part of the secretariat.

“I thank the office of the Speaker, the Clerk, members of the committee of Governance and Security and all MCAs for taking time to scrutinise and passing the bill” stated Mbae.

It now awaits Governor’s assent to become law.
