Unison Sacco opens 11th branch in Nakuru

Unison Sacco has opened her 11th branch in the country within Nakuru’s CBD as a way of enhancing service delivery to customers.

The Sacco that was established in 1977 under the name Laikipia Teachers Sacco before it re-branded to Unison Sacco in 2014 prides in empowering members drawn from from TSC, Civil Servants, private schools/institution employees, corporates, Micro-credit groups and individual business entrepreneurs capable of making regular contributions.

Speaking in Nakuru Town during the launch, Chief Executive Officer John Njogu noted that the re-branding was done in December 2013.

He reiterated the commitment towards empowerment of everyone including those at grassroot level in the county and country.

We have no doubt in our ability ad that is why we are opening this 11th branch in Nakuru so that we can serve our members here better” he said.

Sentiments echoed by Chairman James Muhandi who noted that the New branch comes a time the country has gone through tough economic times.

He called for the need to focus on primary and secondary consumer with the Sacco having pride in having approximately 400,000 members.

On his part Nakuru Branch Manager Peterson Wanjohi said the opening of the new branch in Nakuru is a great milestone towards devolving financial services.

As we birth this new branch today,it is another milestone. We endeavor to grow our members through credit and savings” he said.

The event was graced by Nakuru County Chief Executive Committee Member for Trade and Cooperatives Raymond Komen.

While welcoming the Unison Sacco in Nakuru, CEC Komen noted that the county government of Nakuru has continued to create a conducive environment for business investors.

This confirms confidence that the business community has in Nakuru.Statistics indicate that Nakuru is 2nd largest contributor to National GDP after Nairobi hence Unison Sacco is joining the best. We need to ensure we deepen the financial services to the people” said Komen.

Others who addressed during the event included Teachers Service Commissioner Regional Director Aden Mohamed.

He noted the importance of the Sacco to the teaching fraternity in the region.

I am here to celebrate with you the opening of this branch. As teachers,we will get help in many ways. Teachers depend highly on Sacco. The Sacco’s model is key in socio economic growth for the country.
