Residents of Nakuru Town West are in the process of compiling a report to be submitted to the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) over alleged misappropriation of Constituency funds.

Under the umbrella Nakuru County Opinion Leaders and Accountability Forum, the locals are demanding that a probe be launched into the area’s Constituency Development Fund (CDF) over alleged misappropriation of funds.

Led by the lobby group’s chair Jimmy Wagakabu, the residents claim that a number of projects launched by area MP Samuel Arama since 2014 were questionable.

According to Wagakabu, they are in possession of a report on all the projects initiated in Nakuru west from 2014 to 2019 which indicates misappropriation of funds.

He adds that they have also with them the report from the auditor General’s office which also raises similar concerns on NG-CDF projects in Nakuru Town West.

The report from the auditor General’s office dated Nov 3, 2016 on Nakuru Town West Constituency for the year that ended in June 2015 indicates unexplained over expenditure.

On bursaries, the report indicated that there were no acknowledgement letters to confirm that the bursary funds were received by various schools and benefited the intended students.

It is on this basis that the Nakuru County Opinion Leaders and Accountability Forum has vowed not to relent in fighting for justice and ensuring value for taxpayer’s money.

“We have had a cry in how the over 700 million shillings has been used in Nakuru Town West since 2014.Instead of being given the right information we are being threatened with abuses that even touch on our families. However, this will not deter us from fighting for truth” said Wagakabu.

Sentiments echoed by Nakuru resident and ODM politician Hezron Okiki who stated that no single threats will stop them from liberating Nakuru Town West Constituency.

Okiki adds that last year parents were given bursary forms to fill to a tune of Sh 34 million but due to COVID-19, the Cheques were cancelled and this year parents were told to fill new forms.

According to Okiki, this is another area that the EACC should investigate the NG-CDF office in Nakuru Town West.

“How do you cancel Cheques and throw them away yet they are official documents? The office should come out clear on this” said Okiki.

Arama has however been on record rubbishing the claims raised by the lobby group.

The MP maintained that all projects initiated by the CDF are scrutinized by the Kenya National Audit Office.

Nakuru Town West MP Samuel Arama has maintained that Jubilee Party nominee for the London Ward by-elections Francis Njoroge Njogu will carry the day on March 4, 2021.

Addressing the media in Nakuru just two days after the Party primaries were held, Arama said as a Jubilee Legislator and strong supporter of President Uhuru Kenyatta he will rally behind the nominee Francis Njoroge.

He called on London Ward residents to come out in large numbers on March 4 for the by-elections and ensure Jubilee retains the seat.

“Am a strong supporter of the President and I support the Jubilee nominee and that is Njoroge and I will rally behind him and urge my constituents in London to vote for him so that Jubilee retains the seat” said Arama.

Arama once again called on all Jubilee leaders in Nakuru including Governor Lee Kinyanjui to stand firm and support Francis Njoroge-the Jubilee nominee for the forthcoming by-elections.

The vocal legislator argued that the bad blood that seemed to be there between Kinynajui and Njoroge over the matatu issue in town should not be left in the past so that leaders can rally behind Njoroge.

“The governor has nothing to do with me, I have nothing to do with him..All we are saying as agreed before is that as Jubilee leaders we rally behind our nominee” stated Arama.

It will be recalled that two weeks ago before the Jubilee Party Primaries in London, Arama vowed to ensure that Jubilee Party captures the seat in the forthcoming by elections.

He noted that as a Jubilee Legislator he will work day and night to ensure the seat is retained by Jubilee.

Arama told off those going around with the Msambweni narrative where Jubilee lost.

According to him, London Ward is Jubilee zone and whatever happened in Msambweni has no room.

The London Ward seat fell vacant following the death of MCA Sammy Mbugua.
