Nakuru Central Police Station has received a face-lift courtesy of the largest paint manufacturer in East Africa- Crown Paints.

The Paint Company took it as part of their Corporate Social Responsibility to give a new look to the Nakuru Central Police station to a tune of Kshs 1.5 million.

Addressing members of the press at the Nakuru central Police station on Friday during the handing over ceremony of the fully painted project, Crown Paints Human Resource Director Nicholas Wanambisi said the company is committed to CSR very seriously.,

Wanambisi revealed that the company spends over Kshs 100 million annually on CSR to touch lives in various sectors.

He challenged Kenyans to emulate the same and play simple roles in touching someone’s life in society.

“We believe in touching people’s lives in Community. I would like to challenge Kenyans even at an individual Level to ensure they touch lives in a small way. It’s too selfish just to live for ourselves. Corporates should collaborate with counties and national governments to transform lives.

Nakuru Deputy Governor Dr.Erick Korir who graced the event lauded Crown Paints for the gesture that the company will also be extending to the Regional Police Headquarters and other old police stations that are not in good shape.

“This is the beginning and we are happy that it shall be extended to the Regional Police headquarters. Crown Paints has continued to transform lives and we hope they will open more branches. Our old stations such as the one in Naivasha really need upgrading, “ said Dr.Korir.

While appealing to Corporates to emulate the gesture, the DG called for the need to improve the residential condition of officers.

According to Dr.Korir, this will also help in ensuring efficiency in service delivery on the part of the officers.

“The officers at times live in very poor housing. We need to also start thinking of upgrading their Residential and this will ensure efficiency in their service. MPs should also play a role in ensuring increased allocation for our officers on housing.

On his part Deputy County Police Commander Joseph Tonui appreciated the partnership to improve service in Nakuru Police stations.

The event was also attended by Nakuru East Deputy Sub county Police Commander Phanton Analo, Nakuru Central Police Station OCS Derrick Nyagah and Community Policing Committee members led by their chairman Evans Ekaliche.

It should be noted that the re-roofing at the station was done by area MP David Gikaria after CPC made an appeal to him.
