Police seize counterfeit alcohol worth Ksh 6M in Juja raid

Police in Juja, Kiambu County have arrested two suspects in connection with an illegal distilling plant that was used to produce counterfeit alcohol.

The operation led by Kiambu County Police Commander, Muchangi Kioi, resulted in the recovery of 750 litres of ethanol and a variety of other items including empty bottles, drums, and packaging cartons. The total value of the items seized is estimated to be Ksh six million.

During the operation, it was discovered that the suspects were using fake Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA) stamps to produce and distribute the counterfeit alcohol.

The police commander warned that the security forces will not tolerate such illegal activities and will do everything in their power to prevent counterfeiters from exploiting the country.

The suspects are expected to be arraigned in court and will be interrogated to provide police with more information. The assorted goods seized during the operation have been transferred to the KRA stores in Nairobi.

This successful operation is part of a wider crackdown by the police and other security agencies to curb the production and sale of counterfeit goods in the country.
