Kenyan-American professor of law and leading scholar Professor Makau Mutua has gone to the rescue of embattled Kitui Governor Charity Ngilu.

Members of the County Assembly of Kitui want Ms Ngilu removed from office for undermining the authority of the Assembly and conflict of interest in awarding county tenders.

Forty MCAs out of 56 signed the impeachment motion, a move Professor Mutua says is ill-advised and local Assembly Speaker George Ndotto and the MCAs should be more astute.

“Put people before politics of personal destruction. Think before you commit IRREVERSIBLE errors. Respect WOMEN leadership,” said Professor Makau in a Facebook post.
