It is a new dawn in Kivumbini Ward Politics in Nakuru Town East constituency following the endorsement of Independent candidature of Neto Sakwa Alukutsa by Luo community.

In a ceremony which brought together family, clergy, elders and friends from both Mulembe Nation and JokaNyanam Community in Kivumbini Ward, the two communities saw a Memorandum of Understanding reached.

Under the MoU, Sakwa committed to protect the interest of all tribes and social classes who reside within the ward.

Speaking at Christian Brotherhood Church in Manyani, Kivumbini Ward on Sunday, Sakwa vowed to ensure leadership of inconclusiveness once he makes it in the August Polls.

“We have suffered a lot but this time round with proper team work we can deliver the seat and end this issue where the people of Kivumbini have been denied that democracy to participate in party primaries by those who have resources. Under my leadership, I will ensure that fair distribution of resources, bursary and development projects through needs-based consultations and all inclusive priorities via public participation platforms” said Sakwa.

It will be noted that Kivumbini is a strong ODM zone in Nakuru with majority of those who have led the Ward before having been elected on ODM ticket.

However, as things stand now there is a clear paradigm shift in the politics of the cosmopolitan Ward.

This has been occasioned by the fact that the people have on many occassions denied the chance to participate in a free and fair nominations.

In 2017 for instance, the nomination exercise by the ODM party did not sail through smoothly leading to unclear fate where newcomer in politics Wilbur Onyango was handed the certificate.Came 2022 and the ODM primaries that were to take place on 1st April did not take place with the National Elections Board led by Catherine Muma citing insecurity issues.

It later emerged that the ODM party had issued two certificates to incumbent Wilbur Onyango and one Hussein. It is however not clear whose name among the two was forwarded to the IEBC.

But with the new development where Sakwa-an independent candidate was endorsed by Luo community for his continued support to the people at all times, is a clear indicator that there is a change in politics of Kivumbini.

The endorsement was witnessed by among others Elder Stanley Kinuthia on behalf of Manyani Landlords and Bishop Geoffrey Buliba of the Christian Brotherhood Church (CBC Upendo) on behalf of Kivumbini clergy.

Present at the function were his former ODM competitors Marcel Mulah and Alphonce Owino.

It will be recalled that former Jubilee aspirant for the seat James Kihoria Nandwa has also in the recent days declared that he will be supporting Sakwa.

The Kivumbini Ward seat has so far attracted the incumbent Wilbur Onyango(ODM), Neto Sakwa(Independent), Rukia Wanjiru(UDA) and Robert Moita of Jubilee Party among others.
