As reported by Abdul Sidi,

A zero car (or route opening car) is a car used in rallying to open the road for the competing cars.

The Zero Car is to warn the public not to be surprised by the first car and so that its driver can warn the organization if there is a problem on the stage.

Originally only One Zero Car (number zero) was used. These days it is not unusual for a rally to have two or three zero cars (numbered 000, 00 and 0).

The drivers are usually retired rally drivers.

The cars can be ordinary production sport cars, old rally cars (which lost homologation or are simply no longer competitive) or even new models (which the manufacturer wants to test before the homologation).

The driver and co-driver wear normal safety equipment (helmets, racing suits, etc.). The zero car is usually driven at almost rally pace.

Zero cars should not be confused with the organization car or the FIA inspection car, which also passes through the special stage before the rally cars, but are driven much slower.

The Ministry of Education  has assured school heads and parents that the new 2021-2022 revised fee structure for secondary schools will not in any way affect the smooth run of schools.

Basic Education Principal Secretary Julius Jwan said the move was based on the reduced term dates.

The PS who spoke in Nakuru on Monday after assessing post-covid 19 preparedness in schools, urged secondary schools heads to adhere to the revised fee structure and avoid charging any extra cost.

He was quick to note that the reduction was not made on the tuition money that is always disbursed to the national, county and extra county schools hence normal operations in schools.Basic Education

“Because the term dates were reduced, we decided also to extend the same to parents through reduction of fees. We did not reduce the tuition fee that we always disburse to schools and therefore normal operations in schools will go on” said Jwan.

This, even as the government also reiterated commitment towards 100 percent transition rate from primary to secondary schools.

PS Jwan revealed that the Ministry has continued to engage Equity Group Foundation towards realization of the same.

In Nakuru County’s informal settlements over 700 applications were received for the Equity’s Elimu Scholarship of whom 210 were shortlisted for interviews and 126 were successful.

The PS also assured that efforts are in place to ensure the selected 126 join boarding schools as per the Ministry’s policy with all needs catered for.

“The government is committed to 100 percent transition. We have had good engagement with equity and already 126 from Nakuru County under the Elimu Scholarship will be proceeding to secondary” he said.
