The move by the national government to resolve the never ending land tussle involving Akuisi Farmers Company in Solai, Nakuru County seems to hit a snag as a section of the Akuisi Farmers’ Company Ltd members are now crying foul over the titling program.

The members continue to point an accusing finger at their Directors for what they termed is going against a government directive by selling public utility land within the scheme.

Addressing media at the company’s ground in Solai on Thursday, the irate members said they are now worried that the public utilities(school, police post, market and school as well as the company utilities) might be sold by the ‘greedy’ directors.

Led by Joseph Thuo, the members are now crying to the national government to step in and ensure the public utilities are protected.

Thuo noted that the Board of directors is trying to collaborate with some government agencies to sell the utilities since no title deed was issued.

“If the government will not step in to protect these public utilities, then we are afraid they directors will end up selling all of them as they are planning” said Thuo.

The coffee farmers took an issue with local administrators led by Rongai Deputy County Commissioner for not safeguarding the public utility land.

They said they thought the DCC would act after he was directed through the last meeting convened last year by Riftvalley Regional Commissioner George Natembeya over the issue but this is not the case.

The meeting was also attended by National Land Commissioner Regional Coordinator Frank Kimbelekenya who assured that the public utilities would be protected.

However, the farmers say since then no action has been taken as far as titling is concerned  and are now calling on the national government to fast-track the processing of them same to save the utilities from grabbers.

They said the delay in titling is giving room for grabbers to go on with their activities of selling public utility.

“RC Natembeya came here and talked tough and we though solution was no on the way but several months down the line nothing. We are now worried because the directors are still going on with their plans to sell the utilities” said Thuo.

Ms Esther Wambui on her part accused the directors for acting without consulting the majority members.

She called on President Uhuru Kenyatta to step in and find a lasting solution to the whole issue around Akuisi Farmers Land Buying Company.

“We hope the President himself will hear our cry and come to this area to sort this issue once and for all so that we can have peace” said Ms Wambui.

The once giant entity has had long running leadership wrangles with its leadership fending off allegations from members over mismanagement of assets and misappropriation of funds.

Shareholders have also for years accused the land buying company directors of irregularly selling parts of the 1,200-acre farm in Solai as well as derailing the title issuance program.

Akuisi is one of the companies whose members the head of state had directed that they benefit from the ongoing accelerated titling programme within the devolved unit.

In an unprecedented turn of events, Bahati Member of Parliament Kimani Ngunjiri has voted for the approval of the Constitution of Kenya (Amendment) Bill, 2020, the Building Bridges Initiative.

The vocal MP allied to Deputy President Dr William Ruto’s camp has surprised the House this evening by voting yes, signalling a fallout in the Tangatanga wing of the ruling Jubilee Party.

“I Onesmus Kimani Ngunjiri, MP Bahati, I vote YES,” the MP stated emphatically amid cheers and jeers from MPs across the political divide.

Political analysts say tonight’s move could have been necessitated by DP Dr Ruto’s failure to intervene after Nakuru Senator Susan Kihika allegedly took all County UDA Party leadership posts.

Also, last week, the MP was overheard stating that Governor Lee Kinyanjui had accomplished many development projects in his Bahati Constituency such as hospitals, boreholes and roads.

“The BBI is pushing for more money to Counties which translates to more development projects in the grassroots. I am reconsidering my stand on the BBI for the good of my people,” he stated.

In an apparent swipe at the Bahati MP, Kiharu MP Ndindi Nyoro has voted NO adding that he was doing so to defeat alleged deception and conmanship.

“And to those making noise, there is nothing you can do to me. Cowards, traitors, sell-outs,” he stated before bitterly walking away from the public address system.

Fake US Dollars and Pounds

Police in Ruiru have recovered over Sh350 Million in fake US dollars and Pounds, one Glock pistol and 28 rounds of 9mm calibre, from 3 Cameroonian nationals.

The suspects, Paulin Francis Proper and Njikam Omar were also found to be in the country illegally while the third suspect Job Kentong, holds a refugee identity card.

“In an operation conducted last evening within BTL area in Ruiru, the detectives also recovered over 250 kilograms of fake gold nuggets and gold bars,” stated the Directorate of Criminal Investigations.

The DCI said that upon further interrogation of Paulin Francis, the main suspect, detectives raided his house in Muthaiga North where the firearm was recovered.

Detailed investigations revealed that the firearm belonged to a fourth suspect Loise Kaguongo, who was holding it illegally since her firearms license had expired.

Kaguongo operates over 10 mobile money outlets and detectives believe that she is the link between the suspects and the wider criminal syndicate that is defrauding unsuspecting members of the public.

Yesterday, police in Nyali, Mombasa County arrested two foreign nationals found with bundles of fake currency following an intelligence-led operation by the DCI’s Transnational Organized Crime Unit detectives.
