Lack of Registrar of Persons office in Subukia has subjected the locals to more suffering having to travel up to Bahati to get the services.

However, it is a sigh of relief after Kabazi MCA Dr.Peter Mbae stepped to ensure a solution to the same.

In September this year, Mbae through partnership with the Bahati office of Registrar of Persons mobilized to have locals from Subukia Sub county apply for 1,800 birth certificates.

Speaking on Monday in various points of Subukia after picking the documents, the locals lauded the MCA for the move adding that it will go a long way in addressing the challenges that they have been facing.

“We have been facing a lot of challenges having to travel all the way to Bahati to get the registration services. We want to thank MCA Mbae for the move” said one of the locals.

And in a quick rejoinder, MCA Mbae the program has seen 1,800 locals from Subukia benefit from the same.

He said this has saved the locals of up to close to  Kshs. 3,000 which they have been using to travel in serch of the services.

It is for this reason that the MCA who has an interest in the Subukia Parliamentary seat in 2022,   called on national government to ensure establishment of Registration of Persons office in every Division in Nakuru County.

“I think our people have suffered a lot and that is why we came up with this program. We are also appealing to the National government to ensure that we have these offices in every division so that we can have services closer to the people for that is the principle of devolution” said Mbae.

 

The county government of Nakuru once again on the spot following a fire incident in Pole pole village of Lower Subukia.

This is after the fire engine form county failed to respond on time despite calls from locals in the area.

Led by the victim of the incident Priscillah Wanjiru who lost her household items in the inferno, they said calls were made to the County Fire engine department but calls went unanswered leading to the destruction.

Wanjiru narrated that she only managed to save her four children form the fire incident that consumed property of unknown value.

“We tried to call the fire department but our calls went unanswered. Had they responded they would have saved property from destruction” said Wanjiru.

The cause of the fire is yet to be established.

The Ministry of Interior has withdrawn order on closure of all police posts and patrol bases with less than 6 Officers.

The move comes barely two days after an outcry from members of the public.

In Subukia sub county of Nakuru county, locals had on Friday raised concerns over the move to shut down the police posts.

They argued that this would lead to more crime.

However, the new move by the Ministry is a reprieve to them.

This has been welcomed by Kabazi MCA Dr.Peter Mbae.

In a statement to newsrooms, the vocal Nakuru MCA stated, “I welcome the decision by the Interior Ministry to withdraw the order to close police posts with less than six police officers” he said.

According to Mbae, they had petitioned Interior CS Dr.Fred Matiang’i and PS Karanja Kibicho on order to shut down the police posts.

Mbae who has declared interest to contest the Subukia Parliamentary seat 2022, added that the order had already caused closure of Polepole, Mihang’o and Maseno police posts, depsite the fact that they were in areas much prone to insecurity.

“I have just confirmed with Subukia OCPD that they have officially received the order and that the officers will be returned tomorrow” Mbae said on Saturday.

He commended  the Rift Valley Regional Commander, Nakuru County Commander whom he engaged the two days seeking a compromise as well as Subukia OCPD, OCS and Kirengero OCS with whom they  were working to harmonise the officers to save Edgewood, Tetu and Gitura police posts from closure.

The MCA added that as area leaders they are also looking forward to ensure Subukia has increased officers’ houses to six at Magomano, Mbogoini and Kwa Hajj so as to reopen them with Arahuka police station also awaiting minimum renovations so that police officers can be sent.

Mbae has also appealed for additional funding for hiring officers.

“I now appeal for additional funds be set aside in the upcoming supplementary budget in the National Assembly so more officers can be hired to bridge the now apparent personnel gaps across the country” he said.
