Kabazi Member of County Assembly Dr Peter Mbae is rooting for a 100 per cent transition from Secondary to Universities, colleges and tertiary institutions as a way of improving education in Subukia sub-county.

While lauding the improved performance in KCSE results, Dr Mbae stated that education is key in transforming society.

In a statement to newsrooms on Saturday, Mbae called on all Subukia Constituency KCSE holders to come out on June 2 and register for placement in colleges.

“In 2020, 205 KCSE candidates from our 36 secondary schools in Subukia Constituency attained C+ and above to join Universities.

2,308 attained C to E in KCSE. These are the numbers we are targeting to join Government Colleges to pursue diplomas, certificates and Artisan courses” said Mbae.

He added that the programme takes care of those who sat KCSE from way back to 2000 and got any grade and are willing to join college.

Under this program, Government will send to their Colleges Ksh 30,000 per year per student and they will also get HELB loans at Ksh 40,000.

However, they must first register with KUCCPS, the Kenya Universities and Colleges Central Placement Service.

They can do it online by visiting www.kuccps.ac.ke or come to the following venues on June 2.

1. SUBUKIA NYS GROUNDS 8.30AM. For those from Waseges, Upper Subukia Wards and environs.

2. KABAZI ACK HALL 11 AM. For those from Solai, KirimaNdungiri, Kabazi and Munanda areas and environs.

The exercise shall be launched and preside over by Chief Guest Dr Mercy Wahome, CEO, Kenya Universities and Colleges Central Placement Service.

Mbae says, “the 100% transition from Secondary to tertiary learning means empowering youth with skills. It means mopping up all youth from the villages and send them to Colleges.”

The vocal Nakuru MCA who recently won an award on leadership says the move will help address the school dropout menace in Subukia.

Lack of Registrar of Persons office in Subukia has subjected the locals to more suffering having to travel up to Bahati to get the services.

However, it is a sigh of relief after Kabazi MCA Dr.Peter Mbae stepped to ensure a solution to the same.

In September this year, Mbae through partnership with the Bahati office of Registrar of Persons mobilized to have locals from Subukia Sub county apply for 1,800 birth certificates.

Speaking on Monday in various points of Subukia after picking the documents, the locals lauded the MCA for the move adding that it will go a long way in addressing the challenges that they have been facing.

“We have been facing a lot of challenges having to travel all the way to Bahati to get the registration services. We want to thank MCA Mbae for the move” said one of the locals.

And in a quick rejoinder, MCA Mbae the program has seen 1,800 locals from Subukia benefit from the same.

He said this has saved the locals of up to close to  Kshs. 3,000 which they have been using to travel in serch of the services.

It is for this reason that the MCA who has an interest in the Subukia Parliamentary seat in 2022,   called on national government to ensure establishment of Registration of Persons office in every Division in Nakuru County.

“I think our people have suffered a lot and that is why we came up with this program. We are also appealing to the National government to ensure that we have these offices in every division so that we can have services closer to the people for that is the principle of devolution” said Mbae.
