Respect courts,Nakuru MCA tells BBI proponents

The vocal Nakuru MCA called on elected leaders to respect the courts and Judiciary as an independent body.

Kabazi Ward MCA Dr.Peter Mbae has called on proponents of Building Bridges Initiative to respect courts.

In a statement to newsrooms on Monday morning,Mbae said it was wrong for people to bash judges and courts at large for a ruling issued that termed BBI process null and void.

His statement come a day the BBI proponents headed to court to appeal the ruling issued by a 5- judge bench.

“Attacking the Judiciary yet it’s the same institution you’re going back to seeking to handle your appeal is unwise, illogical, unreasonable, bad for the rule of law and extremely bad manners for elected leaders” he said.

The vocal Nakuru MCA called on elected leaders to respect the courts and Judiciary as an independent body.

Similar sentiments were issued by Bungoma Senator Moses Wetangula.

Visa Oshwal community plant over 500 trees at Nakuru Hindu Crematorium

According to the members,the tree planting should be encouraged even among youths.

Members of the Visa Oshwal community in Nakuru on Sunday planted over 500 trees at the Hindu Crematorium in Manyani,Nakuru East with calls on Kenyans to embrace tree planting as a way to address effects climate change.

Speaking during the exercise ,they said tree planting should be taken seriously.

Led by Visa Oshwal Community chairperson Sanju Shah,the members said trees are key in mitigating the devastating effects of climate change.

“We are here to communicate to the society that we all need to embrace tree planting and plantation forestry as it plays an important role in mitigating the devastating effects of climate change” said Shah.

They added that despite the fact that as a community they use trees during cremation,they have embraced tree planting to replace the ones used.

According to the members,the tree planting should be encouraged even among youths.

Visa Oshwal Community Women Wing chairperson Ms Divya Shah reiterated the same.

“As a community we use firehood during cremation and that is why we decided to plant trees in this crematorium today” she said.

She appealed to locals to work towards realization of more trees.

Njoro Member of Parliament, Mrs Charity Kathambi has reiterated her commitment towards improving the education standards in her constituency.

She was speaking earlier today when she launched the National Government – Constituencies Development Fund bursary worth Shs45 million towards secondary schools and tertiary institutions.

She said she will also be lobbying through the national government to have a national tertiary college in Njoro Constituency where students from all over the country can come and start.

“As we launch this tranche of the bursary for the secondary and tertiary institutions I want to assure parents that in Njoro we will work to ensure our children are in schools and get the best,” she said.

The lawmaker told off those who have discriminated against children when it comes to access to education through retrogressive cultures.

She stated that all children are the same and should be given an equal opportunity in matters of education.

“Let me make it clear here in Njoro that all our children are the same and should be the same priority and opportunity,” said Kathambi.

On the recently released Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education results, she commended regional heads and parents for the continued success in schools.

The first time Lawmaker maintained that her legacy is to see transformed society through infrastructure and education and called on locals to shun divisive politics.

“Quality education is an invaluable investment. We endeavour to bequeath to our future generations” she said.

It should be noted that several schools in Njoro have seen infrastructural transformation under the leadership of the current lawmaker.

In January this year, National Director NG-CDF George Ole Meshuko lauded the Njoro Constituency for the model classes set up and the effort put towards the education sector.

He challenged the NG-CDF team in various constituencies to ensure the best utilization of the funds towards transformation.

Njoro MP calls for concerted effort in addressing pregnancies among school-going girls

The Legislator was reacting to Education Cabinet Secretary Prof.George Magoha’s sentiments on high number of female candidates who sat their 2020 national examination while pregnant.

Njoro Member of Parliament Charity Kathambi has called for concerted effort in addressing rising cases of pregnancies among school-going girls.

The Legislator was reacting to Education Cabinet Secretary Prof. George Magoha’s sentiments on the high number of female candidates who sat their 2020 national examination while pregnant.

This even as Nakuru county was cited among the top 3 counties that had high such cases of pregnant candidates.

But speaking on Saturday during the launch of Njoro NG-CDF Bursary worth 45 million shillings to be issued to secondary schools and tertiary institutions, MP Kathambi castigated parents and society at large.

While noting that majority of the cases are perpetrated by adults who should be protecting the interests of the school-going girls.

According to her, there should be a collective responsibility in society in ensuring school-going girls are protected to enable them to complete their studies and become productive citizens.

“We all have a responsibility to ensure our children are in school. The trend of pregnancies among school-going girls is a worrying trend and we should join hands to address the same. To our men please let us keep off our girls. They need to study and complete the same” she said.

The Lawmaker called on security agencies to ensure the law is enforced so that those found guilty are dealt with.
